BBQ Cook-Off Committee Meeting Minutes -18 Jan
Greetings Comrades, as stated I'm sending a summary of our meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to begin planning for our next successful
cook-off on Sept 2nd.
We first went over the figures of last year. Our goal for this year is $10,000
profit for the post. We went over some improvements that need to be made
based on our last post cook-off meeting.
Some improvements are better parking control, more vendors, more room in
award assembly, adult supervision of minors volunteers, increase number of
golf carts, better trash pickup, increase sponsors and have 5 items in raffle instead of 3.
We announced the chairperson of each event or duty.

Lunch Plates- Simon Cameron
Lunch Plate Tickets - Jon Rhoads
Vendors - Marty Monceballez
Raffle - Henery Montanez

Draft Summary of 18 Jan BBQ Committee Meeting
Comrades, sorry for waiting this long for getting you the summary of our meeting.
This is what we established in our January 18th meeting:
Who qualifies for the $1,000.00 scholarship- A son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a VFW Post 7110 member that is graduating from any secondary school (12th grade).
If more than one applicant for scholarship applies, the recipient will be determined by three criteria this year. Grades, community service, and an essay by applicant stating why he or she should get the scholarship.
Next year will include participation of the VOD contest.
The scholarship money will be disbursed in the same manner as the winner of our VOD contestant by our Quartermaster.
Student application must be received by April 1st. The selection committee will select the recipient by May 1st. Comrade Chuck Neubert will work on an application form for our next meeting. If no corrections or additions are made to the application form, we will adopt the form at our next meeting.
Our next meeting is February 22nd at 6:00pm. We will also select a three member selection committee in that meeting.
After February 22nd, application forms will be available at the Post and in our VFW Post 7110 website.
Comrades, let me know if I left something out or I need to make a correction.
This is our first effort to establish a scholarship for our own member's family.
Modifications can be done later to improve this scholarship program. Also if I left a post member out please forward it to them.
Thanks, Daniel
