Commanders column

Greetings Comrades and Auxiliary members, I want to wish the Post and Auxiliary members a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Years. If you are celebrating with family and friends in both holidays, please be careful if drinking is involved. I would like to thank all those members, who have been very busy with the Holiday events we had so far. Also for attending our flag raising ceremonies in Remembering Commemorate Dates (VPR). The end of the year is closing in, and sharing time with family and friends are a blessing. So let’s keep in mind those service members that are away from their family and friends. To include those who are no longer with us, keep their love ones in prayer.

Recruiting new, reinstated, and unpaid membership is a top priority and VFW Post 7110 is currently at 97 % with 64% retention.

During our next general meeting a status report on potential membership will be discussed to post members. Be sure to look at the events calendar for dates and time of upcoming events and programs.

16DEC17 – TXMG Unit 20 Bike run to Shertz post for breakfast, then ride to the Sattler post. Holiday fun run, meet at VFW Post 0830 – KSU 0900.

16DEC17 – Wreaths across America at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery and surrounding. 0800 hrs gathering, begins at 10 am

17DEC17 – VFW Post 7110 and Aux. Christmas party ( Closed to Public ) Starts at 1pm to TBD, Dinner at 5pm

18DEC17 – meet at 8 am at the VFW Post 7110 to put things together in treat bags. Leave to Audie Murphy, must be there by 10 am. If you would like to accompany the Auxiliary, please meet at the post by 845 am

31DEC17 – New Years Eve – VFW Post 7110 will host a DJ dance 6pm to 12am for everyone.

01JAN18 – VFW Post 7110 will be closed

08JAN18 – House Committee mtg at 5pm / VFW & Aux planning mtg at 6pm / Joint mtg at 7pm

09JAN18 – General mtg at 7pm / Social Dinner at 6pm

25 thru 28 JAN18 – Dept Mid-Winter Mtg – Austin

​27 Jan 18 - 0900 HRS - Signing Vietnam Peace Accord - Flag Raising ceremony
